X-Men When?
In an interview with Brandon Davis, Comicbook.com’s President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige suggested when Marvel Studios fans could expect the X-Men to appear in the MCU.
Davis joked that “Phase 10, is that gonna be Phase X?” alluding to Marvel’s team of signature mutants, to which Feige replied “You wanna wait til Phase 10 for the X-Men?… Alright, that’s longer than I wanna wait:”
BD – “I’m going to end it with that. Alright, Phase 10, is that gonna be Phase X? Is that when we’re finally gonna hear [about the X-Men]… a lil Phase X?”
Feige: “You wanna wait til Phase 10 for the X-Men? Okay, I know that it’s a bit longer than I want to wait but I suppose. Your lead sirI will follow.
The Mutant in the MCU
Feige is right to admit that this is an absurd quote. However, there are some things one can find comfort in Feige’s response. Feige is determined to see these mutants in action and will do it sooner than expected.
At the moment, the MCU just started to plant the first mutant seeds. It will be some time before the plants can grow to a size that fans can see on the large screen. But it won’t take many decades.
Comic-Con Marvel called the situation they’re in with the MCU the Multiverse Saga. It would be logical to then move on to the Mutant Saga. This will establish the main X-Men characters and bring them into the MCU.
It’s going to take a bit of time, but to paraphrase Kevin Feige, “At least it won’t be Phase 10. “
