Ghost Rider (or Robbie Reyes) can be a complicated character to master in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. While he can put out massive amounts of damage, most of it comes at the cost of Robbie’s health. This is why it is essential that players use the best deck possible when playing as Ghost Rider.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns uses a form of turn-based combat featuring cards but limits players to only eight in each hero’s deck. It must also contain at least one attack, skill, and heroic card. This can make formatting the perfect deck for a character like Ghost Rider complex when players want to put out damage but not leave the character completely vulnerable. On the other hand, creating a balanced deck and strategizing can make Ghost Rider a powerful ally. Here are the cards that provide the best deck for Ghost Rider.
Lash+ Can Clear Space on the Battlefield
A must-have attack card for any Ghost Rider deck, Lash+ is a forceful knockback in any direction. This attack deals damage by pushing opponents into objects on the field, giving Robbie some breathing room if an enemy is in his face. Playing this card will also net one Heroism.
Retribution+ Must Be Wielded Carefully
Retribution+ is another necessary attack card to have on hand when using Ghost Rider. This card does 150% offensive damage and will generate Heroism when played. Retribution also has the knockback ability but causes the player to discard a card randomly. Therefore, players will want to be careful when playing Retribution if they have cards in their hand that they are using to set up a play.
Hellmouth+ Creates a Drop for Enemies to Fall Into
Moving on to skill cards, Hellmouth+ is essential, especially when combined with other cards. Hellmouth creates a drop with an increased chance to KO enemies for two turns. This card can be a game-changer if combined with Lash+ to knock an enemy into the drop. In addition, Hellmouth+ will generate two Heroism when played.
Straight to Hell+ Turns Ghost Rider Into a Drop
Given Robbie’s penchant for injuring himself when dealing damage, Straight to Hell+ should be in every Ghost Rider deck. When played, Robbie will be replaced with a drop until the next turn and recover 233 health. Because this card has Final, players will want to use it at the end of their turn.
Hell Ride+ Brings Ghost Rider’s Ride Into the Field
Heroic cards will comprise half of Ghost Rider’s deck. Hell Ride+ deals a lot of damage to each enemy in a line. Netting 350% offensive damage, this card can potentially eliminate many enemies in a single go. This much power comes at a cost though as players will need to use three Heroism to play it.
Judgment+ Can Be Used on Multiple Enemies
Players will want to use Judgment+ early as it will immediately cost Ghost Rider 25% of their health. Each health point is converted to 2 damage and will also damage everything nearby. At the cost of a single Heroism and a good chunk of Robbie’s health, Judgment+ can be a quick way to land hits on multiple enemies to thin the herd, or at least make them easier to eliminate.
If players can unlock it, Judgment+ can be swapped out for Penance Stare+. Penance Stare is a legendary card obtained by completing Ghost Rider’s challenge. Penance Stare is Judgment+ with a significant boost. This card will cost Ghost Rider 50% of his health and turn it into four damage per health point. A massive hit to both Ghost Rider and the enemies, this card can help clear the field fast but is a last-shot type of attack as it has the Exhaust status effect, which removes the player from combat when used.
Hell’s Fury+ Requires Patience to Be Most Effective
A card to hold onto once it appears in a player’s hand, Hells Fury+ is an offensive card that gets more powerful if the player waits. While in their hand, Hell’s Fury+ gains 64 damage the next time Ghost Rider loses health, either via an opponent or their ability. The card can do 200% offensive damage and costs only one Heroism to play.
Drain Soul+ Is a Great Ghost Rider Heroic
Due to Ghost Rider’s tendency to injure himself to damage others, it is crucial to have more than one card in the deck that can heal him. Drain Soul+ adds the lifesteal ability, gives all Drain Soul cards an extra chain and Heroism cost, and allows the player to gain a soul if they full combo. Lifesteal is a big bonus for Ghost Rider, letting him recover health equivalent to how much damage they can put out.
When using Ghost Rider, players will always want to remember the two mechanics unique to the character. While dealing damage, the health depletion mechanic will mean that even though Robbie can heal himself to an extent, it is wise to run Ghost Rider with characters who can heal them or direct the damage to themselves. There is also the Soul Collector mechanic, meaning it is essential for Robbie to land the finishing blow. Having characters who can quickly take a kill can reduce this ability. Soul Collector is vital because filling the meter grants an additional 15% health.
