Spider-Man’s abilities encourage an environmental approach, and an effective deck will allow multiple opportunities to use the area to his advantage.

Peter Parker, or Spider-Man, is a character who relies heavily on his environment to deal damage within Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The New York native is quick on his feet and specializes in damage distribution, able to quickly wipe out weak enemies. The best deck for Spider-Man will use his environment effectively to deal large swaths of damage to opponents.

The varied abilities of the heroes in Midnight Suns mean that players will want to ensure they play into the characters’ strengths and use clever team composition to ensure their weaknesses are effectively covered. Players should also be mindful of the deck they are using for each character, as many have multiple effective play styles. For example, Spider-Man’s maneuverability makes him a powerful environmental attacker, but he can also be used for his debuff and movement capabilities.

Quick Kick+ Helps Keeps Enemies Back

Quick Kick Spiderman Marvels Midnight Suns

Quick Kick+ starts off the attack cards for Spider-Man. An effective deck will want to use two copies of this card. It has the knockback effect, allowing Peter to force enemies into obstacles that can further damage them on top of the 100% offense damage it already causes and the one Heroism generated. If Peter manages to KO the enemy with this attack, it will refund a Card Play. While not an overly powerful card, it does allow players to lean into the environmental damage at which Spider-Man excels.

Special Delivery+ Provides Both Movement and Enemy Damage

Special Delivery Spiderman Marvels Midnight Suns

A rare attack card that helps with both environmental damage and movement, two copies of Special Delivery+ is a must. This attack has a forceful knockback towards Spider-Man and, upon KO, will generate an additional move. Being a forceful knockback, the distance and impact damage is doubled if the enemy is pulled into another enemy or object. Like most attacks, this move will generate Heroism once played.

Opportunist+ Makes Environmental Attacks Free

The next type of cards needed to round out Peter’s deck are skill cards, and Opportunist+ is essential for any deck focusing on environmental attacks. Making Heroism cost zero for the subsequent two Spider-Man attacks while adding a few points of damage and two moves, this card is indispensable. A quick way to build Heroism, Opportunist+ will gain the player two Heroism while at the same time lowering cost.

Spider Sense+ Provides Many Boons to the Player

Spider Sense Spiderman Marvels Midnight Suns

Opportunist+ can make Heroic cost zero for Spider-Man Spider Sense+, thus greatly helping out Spider-Man and his team. Spider Sense+ allows the player to draw two Spider-Man cards while adding one Fast and one Resist. Fast will reduce the cost of Heroic cards by one, while Resist prevents all damage from the next attack. A great card in a pinch, it can help Spider-Man use Web Throw+ (discussed below) so he can perform knockback on enemies while hopefully KO’ing any weak enemies who may have been trying to swarm him.

Web Throw+ Can Damage a Group of Enemies

Web Throw Spiderman Marvels Midnight Suns

The only Heroic card needed in Spidey’s deck is Web Throw+, so two of them will fill out the deck nicely. At the cost of three Heroism, this card has a forceful knockback in any direction and inflicts damage to nearby enemies. An excellent way to help clear a group of opponents, this card plays into the environmental aspect while dealing area-wide damage to foes. While not causing as much area damage as some characters may be capable of, like Iron Man or Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man can still help thin out opponents quickly if needed, as many of his knockback abilities can force opponents closer to one another.

Players using the environmental approach will want to ensure that they have leveled up their passive to Bring the House Down II. This will give players a 15% chance to refund Heroism cost. Each encounter will have a 0 Heroism cost for the first environment attack by Spider-Man. This is important to ensure that whenever available, Peter will be able to use Web Throw+. This is by no means the only way to use Spider-Man, but it will ensure that his abilities and the environment are utilized to the fullest.
