Thor is armed with one of the strongest weapons within the Marvel Comics Universe. His hammer, otherwise known as Mjolnir, makes its comic book debut alongside its most famous wielder in Journey into Mystery #83 in 1962. Mjolnir is a magical wizard with many enchantments. The most prominent being the fact that only those who are worthy may use it.

Marvel was always vague about the criteria for “worthiness”, but characters with pure hearts and warrior spirits who need the hammer when they are in trouble can often lift it. Mjolnir is often used by characters such as Jane Foster or Captain America, but there are many comic characters that readers might be shocked to discover are worthy. “

10 Rogue Stole Thor’s Powers, And Thus His Worthiness

Rogue lifts mjolnir in What If...?

Rogue is able to absorb all powers of any other being. This often leaves her victims in severe or fatal condition. Rogue is known to absorb Ms. Marvel’s power for a prolonged period of time and nearly kills her. …?What If? #66, Rogue works with the Brotherhood of Mutants, and steals all of Thor’s powers instead.

Bolting Thor’s power makes Rogue worthy Mjolnir. Rogue becomes one of the strongest beings in all the universe and destroys the Avengers as well as the Brotherhood. It may have taken place in another universe but Rogue still lifts Thor’s Hammer.

9 Squirrel Girl Can Do Anything… Including Lift Mjolnir

Squirrel Girl holding Mjolnir from Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe

The Squirrel girl was a comical character, whose powers were frequently exaggerated. Marvel published a comic series Unbeatable Spider Girl that featured the hero defeating some of Marvel’s most evil villains, such as Galactus and Doctor Doom. Doreen Green seemed capable of doing anything, even lifting Thor’s hammer.

In the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats up the Marvel Universe graphic book, Squirrel Girl was faced with an evil clone. Squirrel Girl defeated her clone, who had already defeated the Avengers. She proved her worthiness by lifting Mjolnir and becoming the Goddess of Thunder. The reader was free to determine if the events in this book are canon.

8 Moon Knight Revealed Mjolnir’s True Nature

Moon Knight Mjolnir Avengers

The story arc “Age of Khonshu” was interesting, but it was overshadowed by Marvel’s recent event books House of X as well as War of the Realms .. Some readers may not be aware that Moon Knight was capable of using Mjolnir.

In Avengers #33, Moon Knight revealed Uru, the metal Mjolnir was made from, was actually “moon rock.” Moon Knight was able to control Thor’s hammer because of his connections with Khonshu the God the Moon. Moon Knight was not the worthy type, despite being connected in some manner to Mjolnir. Maybe a DC Comics yellow ring would be more appropriate for him.

7 Loki Became Worthy During The AXIS Event

Loki with Mjolnir

Scarlet Witch is a powerful and dangerous character in Marvel Comics. She has triggered some of the most memorable comic book events in Marvel history, thanks to her godlike powers that enable her manipulate reality. This is great news for comic book fans, but not so much for her fictional friends.

Scarlet Witch was responsible for the AXIS events that turned heroes into villains, and vice versa. Loki finally became able to use Thor’s hammer to defeat the ex-God of Thunder. Loki tried for many years to seize Mjolnir, but only succeeded when the evil from his body was removed. After AXIS , Loki reverted to his evil ways and lost all his value.

6 Superman Lifted Thor’s Hammer In JLA/Avengers

Superman wields Mjolnir in JLA/Avengers

Marvel used to cross more often with DC. The “big two” seem to have stopped collaborating. The 2004 crossover limited series, titled JLA/Avengers, brought DC and Marvel’s biggest superhero teams together to fight Krona. Some readers may not be aware that DC’s Man of Steel was the one who wielded Thor’s hammer.

Superman achieved this impressive feat in the final issue. He was armed with Mjolnir, Captain America’s shield. Odin has already lifted the “worthiness enchantment.” Superman, even with this enchantment should still be worthy Mjolnir if ever he needed a boost in power.

5 Black Widow Lifted Mjolnir In An Alternate Universe

Black Widow Mjolnir

What If…? comics look at some of the most bizarre Marvel scenarios. What if? Age of Ultron , The original Thor is killed, leaving his hammer without a wielder. Shortly thereafter, Ragnarok ends with most superpowered creatures of the planet being killed. Black Widow and Nick Fury are left behind.

In her desperate state, Natasha managed to lift Mjolnir. She received an amazing new costume which looked like Jane Foster’s Thor or Valkyrie costumes. What If…? Comics may not be considered canon but are often more enjoyable.

4 Doctor Doom Wielded Mjolnir… But Only In Hell

Doctor Doom holding Mjolnir in Hell

Doctor Doom first appeared in Fantastic Four #5 in 1962, but he has been a villain to just about every Marvel hero thanks to events like Secret Wars. Despite his villainous status, Doctor Doom lifts Thor’s hammer during the “Hammer Falls” arc in Fantastic Four #536.

The Civil War event was in full swing at this time and tie-in books, like issue #536, weren’t promoted as heavily. Doctor Doom continued to wield Mjolnir even though the hammer was thrown into Hell. Doom was able to defeat demons with the help of the hammer after the magic enchantment had been weakened. Doom was unable to lift Mjolnir after returning to Earth. This surprised the Marvel Universe.

3 Wonder Woman Easily Lifted Mjolnir

Wonder Woman lifting Mjolnir

Crossovers between DC/Marvel are not often mentioned, possibly because they have less impact on their respective main universes. But before Superman lifted Thor’s hammer in JLA/Avengers, another Justice League member lifted it in Marvel vs. DC in 1996.

Wonder Woman took the hammer in battle and felt a tremendous increase in her power. It was only briefly that she used it, and soon realized how dangerous and powerful the hammer made her. Wonder Woman gave up her grip on Mjolnir to ensure she did not injure the X-Men Storm’s Storm during battle.

2 Thor Gave Mjolnir To Conan The Barbarian

Conan the Barbarian getting Mjolnir from Thor

What if Thor met Conan, the Barbarian? What if? answered this question. #39 in 1983. Thor, after being tricked and taken to the Hyborian Age by Loki met Conan. After a fierce battle, the two men decided to go on a journey together.

The pair teams up to defeat Thoth-Amon, Conan’s evil villain. Thor gives up his life and presents Mjolnir with his last breath to Conan. Conan lifts the hammer easily, showing his worthiness. What If? Comics can be difficult to find, particularly older versions. Current comic readers are advised to check out this site if you’re looking for wild Conan stories beyond the current King Conan Marvel series.

1 Silver Surfer Worked Hard To Become Worthy & Stop Thanos

A story arc from the latest Thanos solo Comic Book Series focused on an alternate universe in which Thanos defeated Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to win. Thanos, the present-day Thanos, traveled to an alternate universe to talk with his other self to learn more about how this victory was accomplished. The Silver Surfer was one of the few remaining heroes from this alternate future. He’d been gone for a while.

Silver Surfer was in exile and had trained himself to be worthy of Mjolnir. In one of the most epic comic sequences ever, chronicled in Thanos #15, Silver Surfer called Mjolnir to his hand. In one blow, he destroyed the Cosmic Ghost Rider and almost defeated Thanos. This version of Surfer was only in a handful of issues.
