A CBR exclusive preview of Marvel’s Mary Jane & Black Cat #2 sees the titular two characters forced to steal a powerful weapon while stuck in Limbo.
Mary Jane Watson and Felicia Hardy find themselves trapped in Limbo and forced to try and steal Belasco’s Soulsword in a CBR exclusive preview of Mary Jane & Black Cat #2.
In Mary Jane & Black Cat #1, the titular two heroes found themselves fighting demons from Limbo in the streets of New York City following Madelyne Pryor/the Goblin Queen and Ben Reilly/Chasm’s attack in Dark Web #1. With Spider-Man’s ex-girlfriend miraculously now equipped with superpowers, the two unexpectedly fell through a portal that transported them to Limbo. The issue ended with them running into Belasco, the former ruler of the Otherplace prior to Illyana Rasputina/Magik’s tenure.
Belasco invites Mary Jane and Felicia into his hellish mansion in the preview for Mary Jane & Black Cat #2 before presenting them with an ultimatum. If they want to return home, he says, he needs them to steal the Soulsword he once forged. “I was instructed in the creation of my own Soulsword by…outside interests long ago,” he explains. “It served their purposes for me to be the master of Limbo. But to ensure I…knew my place, they took it from me, hid it away.” Now that Madelyne is in charge of Limbo and things are in relative chaos due to her Dark Web attack, Belasco believes the time has come for him to reclaim his weapon and take charge. The only catches are his Soulsword is now located inside a dangerous locale called the Screaming Tower and there are likely others also trying to steal the weapon.

Mary Jane and Felicia Aren’t Alone in Limbo
Throughout the course of Marvel’s Dark Web event, several characters have found themselves either trapped or willingly heading to Limbo for various reasons. Havok/Alex Summers, Cyclops/Scott Summers, Jean Grey and Magik all ventured into Limbo in Dark Web: X-Men #1 (by Gerry Duggan, Rod Reis and VC’s Cory Petit) in an effort to sneak up on Madelyne and quench her attack. Madelyne, however, saw the advance coming and has since kidnapped the mutants inside her sky dungeon while forcing Havok to don his former Goblin Prince uniform.
In Amazing Spider-Man #15 (by Zeb Wells, Ed McGuinness, Cliff Rathburn, Marcio Menyz and VC’s Joe Caramagna), Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan ran into Chasm, who was practicing his magic skills and then cast a spell to send her to Limbo. Several Spider-Man characters, including J. Jonah Jameson and Robbie Robertson, joined her in the following issue before Peter Parker, too, found himself being sucked down into Hell at the end of Amazing Spider-Man #16.
