Marvel announced that Strange Academy: Finals will be returning for an ongoing series. Written by Skottie Young, and illustrated by Humberto Ramos.
Marvel’s Strange Academy is back in session as the publisher announced a new Strange Academy: Finals ongoing series launching this October.
Announced at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on July 22, Marvel’s Strange Academy: Finals is a new sequel series coming from writer Skottie Young and artist Humberto Ramos. Strange Academy: Finals will follow Doctor Strange’s pupils on another adventure as they near the end of their first year at the school. It reads: “FRESHMAN YEAR IS Almost Over!” People have wondered since day one who the future of Strange Academy is and how they can make it happen. Marvel Magic’s future is at stake and this will require far more than the Sorcerer Superior and his school, if magic can have a chance! Preview pages revealed at SDCC for Strange Academy: Finals show Scarlet Witch speaking to Doyle Dormammu, Toth and other students when Guslaug, a Frost Giant from Jotunheim, walks in.
Strange Academy #1 debuted in 2020 from Marvel Comics. Created by Young and Ramos, the series is set in a supernatural school for youngsters created by Doctor Strange (prior to his untimely death in The Death of Doctor). The academy also has other teachers, including Brother Voodoo and Magik. Scarlet Witch and the Ancient One are all dedicated to teaching mysticism and magic. The synopsis for Strange Academy #1 reads, “
A SORCERER SCHOOL FOR THE MARVEL UNIVERSE! Doctor Strange is opening a school for young wizards after the Marvel Universe changed so mysteriously. New Orleans has brought together young people with magic-related abilities from all over the globe to learn the Mystic Arts. They will be studying under Strange, Brother Voodoo and the Ancient One. Is it possible to save the world from all these new magic threats? “
“What we’re really trying to do is tell those classic coming of age stories that we’ve seen in so many other properties or other projects out there in the world whether it be TV or film or novels or comics,” Young said when Strange Academy was first announced. It could be children running through mazes, kids attending magic schools or just people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world .
Strange Academy: Finals features cover art by Ramos. Marvel Comics will release the first issue in October.
