Bridgerton’s star Rege Jean Page will be joining the Marvel’s Secret Invasion TV Series in an undisclosed capacity.
Rege-Jean Page has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion TV series.
The casting was quietly dropped by the House of Ideas after the conclusion of its San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation. To hype the drama, Colbie Smolders (who will be returning as Maria Hill) was present at the surprise trailer screening. You guys, this is a darker series. It’s going to be a thrilling thriller as we get closer into each character. She teased that you never really know who someone is, Skrull-like or not. The show will premiere on Disney+ in spring 2023 and will be the first TV series of Phase 5.
Starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Secret Invasion will showcase a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls (initially introduced in Captain Marvel) who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Martin Freeman stars as Everett Ross, Don Cheadle plays James Rhodes/War Machine and Olivia Colman will be in an undisclosed role.
The series wrapped filming in April and is currently undergoing reshoots. Reshoots are a normal part of Marvel Studios’ filming process. However, the case in this instance may prove to be more severe. Reports indicate that Marvel wants to replace an “devastating sequence” which parallels the current war in Ukraine.
Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Leinil Francis Yu, Secret Invasion is an eight-issue limited series that ran from June 2008 to January 2009. As heroes from the Marvel Universe discover that their close friends and allies are being replaced by Skrulls who seek to control the planet, the story is about them. The event was linked to multiple comic books from the Marvel publishing company, just like other crossovers.
After starring in the 2016 remake of Roots and the ABC legal drama For the People, Page found his breakout role in Bridgerton, which quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular shows. He left the series after one season to pursue other projects, including Netflix’s The Gray Man and the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Rumours have also suggested that he could be the next James Bond.
