Since its release, Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been met with overall favorable reviews. The familiar characters of the game, such as Captain America and Wolverine, fight with a card-based battle system, and each character has their own role and moveset. Doctor Stephen Strange is no different, providing a plethora of support and magical attacks that only the Sorcerer Supreme could muster in Midnight Suns.
In the game, each of the heroes that players can engage with have the chance to undertake a challenge catered specifically to their character. These challenges are often difficult, but they reward success with a new card and suit to use during the rest of the game’s proceedings. Strange’s role as a support character is part of what makes his challenge, Strange Memories, so difficult for players not used to his moves. Players must strategically use Strange’s cards to complete the challenge and earn his rewards.
What the Strange Memories Challenge Requires
To partake in the challenge, a few requirements must be met. First, players should complete the research project “Forged in Hellfire” and build the Armory. The Armory costs 175 credits to build but is well worth the cost, as its completion unlocks the ability to partake in hero challenges. Then, players must max out their friendship level with Doctor Strange by engaging in activities with him and going on missions.
For the Strange Memories challenge, Doctor Strange must use his buff and support cards to face five enemies. Upon defeating each enemy, more cards will be added to Strange’s deck, giving him more options in the battle ahead. The objective of the challenge is to destroy the Crystal after defeating all five enemies without running out of cards first.
How to Complete the Strange Memories Challenge
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is known for its creative puzzles and challenges, and Strange Memories is no letdown. Each of Strange’s limited cards must be used on the right enemy at the right time. First, Strange needs to use Bolt of Balthakk to KO the Whisper of Memory to his left. This wins him a Blessing of the Vishanti card, which when played will increase the damage of his remaining Bolt of Balthakk cards. With the damage higher, the next Whisper to Strange’s left can be KO’ed to receive Agamotto’s Gaze.
Players should then use Agamotto’s Gaze to redraw the two Bolt of Balthakk cards, which can subsequently be used to KO the Whisper to Strange’s right and receive another Blessing of the Vishanti. Play Agamotto’s Gaze to draw the two Bolt of Balthakk cards that were just played. Next, players should KO the next Whisper to Strange’s right to get another Agamotto’s Gaze, which can be used once again to retrieve the two Bolt of Balthakk cards.
With three Bolt of Balthakk cards in hand, players need to use the Blessing of Vishanti card to increase the damage of each of them again. After this step, one of the Bolt of Balthakk cards should be at twenty-seven damage, and this should be used to KO the Incarnation of Memory and win the Resonance card. By playing Resonance, players increase the amount of Bolt of Balthakk cards in their hand from two to four.
Finally, players should use all four of their powerful Bolt of Balthakk cards to attack the Red Crystal. If properly buffed, these cards are all it will take to destroy it. Afterward, players will receive the Seven Suns of Cinnibus legendary card. To win the challenge, players need only use this to destroy the Black Crystal.
What You Get for Completing the Challenge
For completing the challenge, players get two rewards. The first is the legendary black and gold Midnight Sun suit, which has a unique design depending on the character. Players can either unlock each Midnight Sun suit by doing the individual character challenges or wait until all the suits are unlocked at once for the game’s final story mission.
The second reward for completing the Strange Memories challenge is the Seven Suns of Cinnibus card, which is added to Doctor Strange’s deck. This card costs three Heroism to play and is enhanced with five, seven, and nine Heroism. It damages each enemy in an area and does one hundred percent Offense damage. This card can be upgraded to Seven Suns of Cinnibus+ at the Yard by combining two duplicates of Seven Suns of Cinnibus and some Heroic Essence.
