Firaxis Games’ creative director, Jake Solomon, unveils a procedurally generated custom comic book cover creator for Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
Firaxis Games’ creative director Jake Solomon revealed Marvel’s Midnight Suns featured an in-game comic book cover creator.
According to The Direct, Solomon claimed Firaxis Games’ upcoming tactical superhero RPG will include procedurally-generated custom comic book covers. “The other feature that I really, really love, that we haven’t talked about it hardly at all, but players will once they’re playing the game, is the comic book creator,” Solomon explained. “So, we have a feature in the game where after you complete a mission then it will create a custom, it will procedurally generate a custom comic book cover and put all the heroes or the villains that were on the mission, and it will pose them.”
The director further revealed players will also be able to personalize their comic book covers to their liking. Solomon continued, “It will have like a cool cover with all these graphics. And you can move the heroes around, change their expression, change their poses, add heroes to it, take heroes away, add villains. And you can create these ornate scenes that are comic book covers.”
Though Solomon believed the custom comic book cover feature will not define the players’ gameplay experience, he claimed it was still a valuable addition to Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The director additionally revealed he was excited to see how players will make use of the feature, with Solomon stating that he was eager to “start seeing people churning out their own ridiculous creations.” He further hinted he had yet to reveal all of the options included in the custom comic book covers and that the full game will incorporate additional customization choices.
Players will also be given the chance to create their own hero through the Hunter, a unique character with a highly customizable appearance and three distinct powersets. Marvel’s Midnight Suns will see the Hunter form a team with 11 other heroes, which will include iconic Marvel characters such as Blade, Captain America and Iron Man. Firaxis Games additionally announced it will release a series of post-launch DLCs, which will add Venom, Deadpool, Storm and Morbius to Marvel’s Midnight Suns‘ impressive roster.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is scheduled for release on Dec. 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will launch sometime in 2023.
