Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers releases a ‘Prime Armor’ skin for Iron Man modeled after Tony Stark’s snazzy suit in the Invincible comic run.
Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers has unveiled a special skin for Iron Man.
On Twitter, the video game’s official account posted an image of Iron Man’s ‘Prime Armor’ Outfit. The skin, officially available in Marvel’s Avengers Marketplace as of Jan. 5, resembles Tony Stark’s snazzy suit in the Invincible comic run. The Model-Prime Armor (Model 51) can transform its limbs into various tools and change shape and color based on the situation. Stark’s armor last appeared in the October 2015 issue of Invincible Iron Man (Vol. 3) #1 by writer Brian Michael Bendis with artists David Marquez and Justin Ponsor.
In addition to Iron Man’s Prime Armor, Marvel’s Avengers also dropped another outfit for Hawkeye on the same day. The archer’s ‘Modern’ Outfit resembles his attire in the Secret Avengers comics. On Dec. 29, Marvel’s Avengers also released the “Werehawk” version of Clint Barton. Inspired by Hawkeye’s look in “Avengers of the Undead” in Secret Avengers #33, the skin features strikingly purple feathers and bright red eyes.
Released in 2020, Marvel’s Avengers is a brawler game that follows Inhuman teenager Kamala Khan who suddenly gains superpowers during A-Day, which begins The Avengers’ storyline. The title’s initial roster included superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Ms. Marvel. Marvel’s Avengers eventually added Clint Barton and Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, in addition to Mighty Thor/Jane Foster and the Winter Soldier.
Marvel’s Avengers’ Future
While some fans theorize Captain Marvel and Shuri could join the game’s character roster, one leaker claimed Crystal Dynamics may halt new content releases starting in 2024. However, more superheroes added to the roster may not save Marvel’s Avengers. “I’ve got to tell you, I’m not sure we ever will [see an influx of new players],” the leaker said. “There’s only so much that I can say. I’ve had conversations in the last few weeks that paint a rather grim picture of the future. I was on record a few months ago saying I don’t think we’re going to make it to the 4.0 update series.”
Marvel’s Avengers is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
