As Marvel continues to churn out more Alien stories after the Fox acquisition, fans are attaining grave insight into the Weyland-Yutani company outside the films. It turns out, stories such as Prometheus and Alien: Covenant was the tip of the iceberg because even after the prequels and main movies, this evil corporation continued to mess with Xenomorphs and their DNA.
Now, Alien #3 (from Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Julius Ohta, Yen Nitro, and Clayton Cowles) adds to the mythos, even more, showcasing just how scarier these entities are when they hunt together. And make no mistake, this is the deadliest batch fans have seen thus far, not just because of their genetic makeup or style of killing, but how they do so with their main trump card at their side.
Marvel’s Alien Just Introduced a Stronger, Faster Xenomorph
This book focuses on the Steel Team in 2217 being sent by the United System to Tobler-9. These Synths (robotic super-soldiers even more dangerous than Bishop or David) are meant to retrieve an ovomorph egg, which can make humans more resistant to disease, including nuclear fallout. However, the Steel Team’s ambushed by these aliens, who are way more durable and lethal. Their speed’s off the charts, and they’re much stronger than the typical variety of xenomorphs. It calls to mind the comparison between the Predators and Super Predators that may inhabit the same universe.
Thankfully, a human alliance saves the Synths, letting them know as the last survivors of this world, they know Weyland-Yutani’s secrets. It turns out, the corporation mixed human DNA in to create the perfect Xenomorph. This new breed of Alien is able to think more, lay traps, and came off like more sadistic monsters than natural predators. It’s the human in them, so much so, they even leave signs of hope and evidence during kidnappings, just to bait mankind in for attacks.
Marvel’s Alien Confirms the Pack Hunts With a Queen
Unfortunately, the human resistance, led by Melody, betrays the Synths. They trap them in the Queen’s lair, making it clear they can’t let any eggs leave, even if it’s for a good cause. It’s too much of a gamble, so they have no choice but to backstab them. It nods to the past when the robots turned on humanity to get the eggs back to the company. But in this case, it’s all about protecting the galaxy from potential danger. The scary thing is, the pack comes hunting with their muscle: the Queen, herself. She’s left roaring, rabid, and hungry for flesh, which subverts the older tales.
These royal alphas usually arrive at the end after the other foot soldiers died, but this time, the regent isn’t a last line of defense. She wants to take a proactive stance, not just to protect the other eggs incubating, but to also keep her tribe safe. This makes an already intimidating clan even more frightening, leaving the Synths petrified as they never trained for a weapon of mass destruction like this. It is a concerted assault that proves the aliens’ military acumen, strategy, and tactics are impeccable.
