Marvel previously teased Venom #11 would bring back the Sleeper symbiote with a brand-new host. Introduced in 2018’s Venom #165 by Mike Costa and Mark Bagley, Sleeper was one of several spawns that came out of the Venom symbiote by Alchemax’s Doctor Steven. The symbiote can also take the form of a cat, which has appeared in previous issues of the current Venom run.
“Working on Venom has been a surprise, honestly. I wasn’t really familiar with the symbiote world before I drew the first pages of issue 1 but it’s been a hugely entertaining world to explore,” Hitch previously said of Venom #11. Al and Ram’s epic (and it is an enormous long-form epic), has provided me with so many threads, from urban drama to personal drama to space and time. For this book I needed to be able to draw cats. Sleeper is my favorite cat to work with. He’s starting to get serious about his craft and we haven’t been able to see him much. With Sleeper Agent, he’s adding a new element to the symbiote and an additional player. Both chemical and biological warfare. The cover reveal of the Sleeper Agent is only one phase. After all, they are both …”

Venom #11 will kick off a new three-part story arc titled “Venomworld.” The arc will see Eddie and Dylan, his son, deal with ramifications that will be revealed in Venom #10. The synopsis for Venom #10 reads, “THE COLOSSAL CAPSTONE TO THE SECOND ARC OF THIS EPIC NEW ERA OF VENOM! Eddie Brock is torn through time and space by the symbiote, pushing his soul to its limits. Eddie is manipulated and misunderstood by greater forces than himself and must watch horror as Dylan and the Venom-symbiote get stabbed in their hearts by BEDLAM. “
