Disney introduced parental controls in March for its streaming service to make it easier to limit access to content that is considered to be inappropriate or offensive to younger members of the family. A clear sign that Disney was pivoting from only allowing PG-13 or lower films and shows to now potentially letting Marvel Studios expand into developing R-Rated on Disney+.
In the last year, Marvel Studios announced they would develop a Marvel Zombies animation series for Disney+. Fans began to speculate about whether the series would have any connection with the What if …?. the second episode with the same storyline and to what extent the series received a mature rating.
Both have been finally answered at San Diego Comic-Con.
Marvel Zombies First R-Rated Marvel Studios Show
At the Marvel Studios Animation Panel in San Diego Comic-Con it was revealed that the upcoming Marvel Zombies animated series would be rated TV-MA. Executives promised that there would more blood and gore.
This series takes place within the same universe where the zombie universe appeared in What if …? will feature more zombie heroes and villains, including Wanda Maximoff and Ghost, Hawkeye and Abomination. Also, Captain Marvel and a legless Captain America are included. Ikaris and many more.

The new survivors in this zombie apocalypse are Yelena and Kate Bishop, Jimmy Woo. Shang-Chi. Kamala Khan. Death Dealer. Red Guardian. Awkwafina’s Katy.

The panel showed viewers a Skrull biker group at a station, and ex-Black Widows working together to survive.
