The latest update to Marvel Snap brought with it highly-anticipated additions while nerfing several popular cards.
According to the official website for Marvel Snap, the new patch, which released on Nov. 29, includes adjustments to Angela, Mysterio, Onslaught, Sera and Destroyer. Marvel Snap gave explanations for each, namely identifying each as too strong or overwhelming in their current form. Angela, for instance, gained +2 power for every card played at her location on top of her starting power of 1. With the update, she now starts at 0 power and goes up from there.
On the other hand, Destroyer had gained Marvel Snap‘s attention as a favorite card for many that some found overwhelming in his power. The team decided to lower his power from 16 to 15 to make it easier to face him in a match. Sera suffered a similar power reduction, deducting one power. Marvel Snap also reduced Mysterio’s power from five to four after repeated gameplay revealed his illusions could heavily benefit the player in a way that made him unbalanced.
One of the more complicated nerfs involves Onslaught. Player Onslaught doubles the abilities of other Ongoing characters at a location, which can exponentially increase the power level there by hundreds if played right. To minimize this, Marvel Snap elected to alter his ability somewhat in a way that isn’t apparent in the text of the card; instead of stacking abilities exponentially, Onslaught is now simply additive.
