Marvel Snap has unveiled short, medium and long-term goals for the new hit card game app.
According to its recent blog post on the Marvel Snap website, the game developers intend to add several new components in the coming year. One of these is the highly-anticipated PvP mode, which lets Marvel Snap players battle against friends instead of randomized opponents. Others include a name change function, which, as the term sounds, lets players create a new username to go by. Marvel Snap will also soon add artist credits to the cards, something it has thus far lacked among its multiple variants for each comic book character.
The Future of Marvel Snap
Following the unveiling of its new Token Shop and latest season, Marvel Snap revealed details about its upcoming Battle Mode, including how it will work. In Battle Mode, players begin with 10 health each. Players reduce their opponent’s health through repeated games, with damaged determined by the stakes of each game. If one of the players “snapped,” the base two damage goes up to four, or they can retreat from the competition and only take one point of damage. Players engage in multiple battles against each other with the same deck until one player’s health is reduced to zero. To engage in Battle Mode, players must either create a game and send a code to a friend or join a game and use the code generated by their friend’s game. While Battle Mode has no definitive release date yet, Marvel Snap says it plans to launch it sometime in the next month or two.
Other features currently in development for Marvel Snap without a near release window include PC Widescreen UI, Smart Decks, Unranked Mode and New Competitive Modes. Smart Decks will allow players to have the game build a deck automatically around one or two cards the player adds to a new deck using what they already have in their collection. Marvel Snap also plans to roll out an Unranked Mode for battle, so players can enjoy the game without risking the loss of a rank each season.
Additionally, Marvel Snap listed several items it hopes to add eventually, though it did not go into detail for each. These are Guilds (Social Systems), Infinity Rank Leaderboard, Collectible Emotes and Card Emojis, Mythic Variants, Booster Magnets, Avatars and Titles by Deck, PC Controller Support, Season Cache Improvements and In-Game Events.
Marvel Snap has added several updates to the game in recent weeks. Besides the Token Shop and a new season, Marvel Snap released 16 brand new cards, such as Shuri, She-Hulk and the SHEILD Helicarrier. Other significant additions to the card collection include Titania, Luke Cage, Absorbing Man, Maria Hill, Agent Coulson, M’Baku, Attuma and Orka, Galactus, Valkryie, Super Skrull, Bast and Thanos. The Mad Titan also brings with him the six Infinity Stones, adding even more cards to player’s decks.
