Marvel announced the date of its much-anticipated Blade film release while speaking in Hall H during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Marvel announced the news while unveiling the complete lineup for Phase 5. This phase will begin next year with Ant Man and the Wasp, Quantomania. According to the MCU’s full maps, the Blade film is due in theaters November 3, 2023. The new Blade film was first announced at SDCC in 2019, with Mahershala Ali set to star.
Wesley Snipes famously played the vampire in three films between 1998-2004 to much fan adoration. Ali has previously spoken out about his first encounter with the vampire through Snipes portrayal. “Well, only what I discovered, like everyone else in the late ’90s with Wesley Snipes, you know,” the two-time Oscar winner said. “And … “And… “
Ali briefly portrayed the character in Eternals ,, but with a very brief voiceover. Ali still described it as scary, noting that this would be the impression most ardent comics fans and moviegoers would make of Ali’s version of the character.

Blade made his debut in Marvel Comics’ The Tomb of Dracula #10 (July 1973). Blade, born Eric Cross Brooks is a dhampir. He’s a creature that was created from an immortal vampire and a mortal human. Blade is a vampire hunter who lives his whole life fighting against vampires.
Blade was directed by Bassam Tariq and written by Stacy OseiKuffour. Tariq had few films to his resume yet, though his most notable is perhaps 2020’s Mogul Mowgli. OseiKuffour has very few credits, but she had written episodes for popular series like Watchmen and The Morning Show .. Ali will also be portrayed by Delroy Lindo, but his part is still unknown. The movie hits theatres November 3, 2023.
