Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will have to face the Beyonder, the villain largely responsible for 1984’s Secret Wars event, in Avengers Beyond.
Avengers Beyond is a new five-issue miniseries launching in March 2023 from writer Derek Landy and artist and cover artist Greg Land. The series spins out of Marvel’s All-Out Avengers, which launched in September 2022 from Landy and Land. Each issue of All-Out Avengers has intentionally dropped heroes such as Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America and more into the middle of a battle from the various first page while hinting some mysterious mastermind may be operating behind the scenes of the action.
What Is Avengers Beyond About?
Marvel teased of the new series, “In the pages of Derek Landy and Greg Land’s ALL-OUT AVENGERS, readers have been dropped into the middle of some of the Avengers’ most pulse-pounding missions to date with no time for explanation! But fans aren’t the only ones asking questions and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have realized something or someone has been influencing them for the past several months, altering the very fabric of reality in an attempt to prepare the planet for a threat that could destroy everything. Here, now, this unseen individual is to be dragged, kicking and screaming, from the shadows and into the light – and is revealed as the Beyonder! Something big is coming to the Marvel Universe…”

Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, the Beyonder was the omnipotent force responsible for the 1984 Secret Wars. The event saw heroes and villains from across the Marvel Universe brought to a place called Battleworld where they were then forced to fight one another while the Beyonder observed who would win in an ultimate battle against good and evil. While he came back for 1985’s Secret Wars II and a number of other titles, the Beyonder recently returned in Marvel’s Defenders Beyond limited series (by Al Ewing and Javier Rodriguez).
