Marvel unveils a brand new look at Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever 1, a one-shot that introduces several new Ghost Rider versions at SDCC.
Marvel’s Spirit of Vengeance rides again in a handful of different forms in a new look at Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever #1.
During the “Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23, the publisher revealed a new look at Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever #1. One of the preview pages shows Ghost Rider’s cowboy version during the Old West, while another shows a futuristic Ghost Rider 2099 battling an undead-looking creature wearing a helmet similar to Magneto’s. The third page depicts Ghost Rider as a bear-like creature during prehistoric times, and later in the Salem Witch Trials wearing a gown. Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever will also weave in elements of Benjamin Percy and artist Cory Smith’s current Marvel run.
Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever #1 comes from writer Percy and artist Juan Jose Ryp, with cover art by Bjorn Barends. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ghost Rider, the one-shot will see Johnny Blaze uncover secrets about the Spirit of Vengeance’s long history. It reads: “CELEBRATING FIVETY YEARS of VENGEANCE!” Johnny Blaze is still reeling after his experience in Hayden’s Falls and seeks counsel from Necro, the Tattooist, a seer who uses his needles to reveal dark truths. This is more than a tour of Ghost Rider’s past, it’s also an exploration of Ghost Rider’s future as well as a warning of what lies ahead and a look at the legacy. “
“For the 50th anniversary of Ghost Rider, I wanted to do something epic,” Percy previously said of Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever. So I created an issue to celebrate the rich legacy of the stories and creators who have come before me. “
Marvel also unveiled a new look at Ghost Rider #8 by Percy, Smith and cover artist Kael Ngu. This preview features Johnny Blaze collaborating with Wolverine as well as a variety of Marvel Universe characters including Blade, Rhino and Doctor Doom.
The synopsis for Ghost Rider #8, which goes on sale in November, reads, “JOHNNY BLAZE AND TALIA WARROAD — WORKING TOGETHER?! They will be part of the F.B.I.’s splinter team and map the shadow roads that run across the country. This is to uncover the bigger scheme of an underground conspiracy. “
Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever #1 goes on sale Aug. 10 from Marvel.
