A preview for All-Out Avengers #4 introduces the Marvel Universe’s own version of Star Wars‘ Sarlacc pit.
All-Out Avengers #4 comes from writer Derek Landy, penciler Greg Land, inker Jay Leisten, colorist Frank D’Armata and letterer VC’s Cory Petit. In a preview of the issue provided by Marvel, Black Widow is trying to escape the clutches of an alien called a “Grexxle.” Bearing a resemblance to the creature whose pit Boba Fett fell into in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, the Grexxle seems to live in a large hole in the middle of the desert and dines on living human beings.
Luckily, Black Widow doesn’t end up being consumed by the Grexxle, as she steals an enemy’s ride before it can eat her before then receiving some assistant from Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. The issue also reveals Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman joins Carol and Natasha Romanova in being trapped on this alien planet, which they can only leave if they manage to dismantle a force field surrounding the world in an hour or less.
All-Out Avengers Prepares for a Massive Marvel War
The synopsis for All-Out Avengers #4 reads, “The action doesn’t stop from page one! Trapped on an alien world and surrounded by bloodthirsty hunters, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman and Hawkeye have only hours before their last chance to get home disappears forever. But as a new enemy watches from the shadows, it becomes clear that they were stranded here for a reason. They just have to figure out what it is before they are killed…”
All-Out Avengers is leading into a five-issue miniseries from Landy and Land, Avengers Beyond, which launches in March 2023 and sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes face off against Secret Wars‘ The Beyonder. “I am beyond excited to take everything we’ve done in All-Out Avengers and continue it into its next incarnation,” Landy previously said. “We’re just beginning to brush up against the wider implications of the Beyonder’s agenda and the chance to tell this kind of story — the story of gods, the one thing that scares them, and the Avengers caught in the middle — is an impossible dream come true for a kid who grew up with Secret Wars.”
All-Out Avengers #4 features cover art by Land and D’Armata and variant cover art by Ed McGuinness and Laura Martin. The issue is on sale Dec. 28, 2022, from Marvel.
