While Thor Love and Thunder has its moments, the movie is also very entertaining. However, the film’s best elements are its most emotional. The film brings a bittersweet and romantic side to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surpassing even the sadness of the other love stories in the series. The nature of Thor is Love and Thunder , which gives the MCU’s latest entry a bittersweet feel that would not be out of place in Pixar films. It feels more like a Pixar superhero film than something like Up ..
Thor Love and Thunder shows that there are many times in the movie when a lot containing different themes and tones. This helps to enhance the film’s special qualities. The movie has bits of tragic comedy interwoven with more lighthearted action beats. But the best aspect, perhaps more than any of the flashy MCU action, is Thor and Jane’s bittersweet, ultimately limited romance.
Thor, a character that is shown in the movie to have been alive for many thousands of years, has been reconstructed in the film as a centuries-old character. His romance with Jane Foster, the human Jane Foster had always been bittersweet. He knew that Jane would eventually die and be left alone.
This is brought to the fore in Thor ,, which explores their breakup and Jane’s discovery of Stage-4 cancer. This stage is the most deadly. Thor is shocked to learn that Mjolnir was the only thing that gave her strength, but actively damaged her body. He becomes concerned that they will lose her permanently. It is especially hard when Jane and Thor affirm their love for each other, which makes Jane’s decision to save Thor even more difficult.
Jane’s passing is not a sad loss. Instead, it is quiet and filled with love. Thor and Jane make jokes, and then they both slowly fade away. This is one of MCU’s most human and touching moments. The ageless Gods of Thunder cannot change his circumstances and has to make peace with it. This is the MCU’s closest attempt to recreate the same sentiment found in Pixar animated films. These films are known for making beloved characters from unlikely places in the world, and then infusing them enough emotion to make some of their most iconic films.
In reality, Thor’s death of Jane and his acceptance of it give Thor : Love and Thunder an thematic connection to Up . This Academy Award winning film features Ed Asner as Carl. He decides in his later years to take the journey he and Ellie, their beloved wife, had longed to undertake. The film shows Carl learning to understand Ellie’s death and accepting the fact that life will continue without him. He also learns how his experiences have been enhanced by her influence, but there is still more to live.
Both films end with the main character demonstrating this growth through becoming closer with a young girl. It’s Russell in Up , and Love in Thor ,, Gorr’s resurrected child. Thor is basically Marvel’s Up ,, which, while a high standard to set, the movie manages it with great gusto.
