The promise of Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder back may have surprised fans, actor, and director alike. But it was not the only surprise that completed Love and Thunder . Mid-credits spoiler showed that Russell Crowe’s Zeus survived Thor’s encounter and sent his son Brett Goldstein’s Hercules after the Asgardian Avenger.
In an age when Marvel’s latest releases are subject to a lot of leaks and leaks, the studio managed an admirable job keeping Goldstein’s MCU debut silent. It has been discovered that even inside the studio, news was held on a strictly confidential basis.
Thor4 Writer was Surprised By Hercules Reveal
Thor – Love and Thunder writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson spoke with Variety recently to talk about the scene in the middle of credits that showed Ted Lasso ‘s Brett Goldstein being the MCU’s Hercules.
The writer was asked about her involvement with the stinger. However, she revealed that Marvel had refused to reveal to her the casting details of the sequence, but she was ” truly surprised” by a scene she “saw at the premiere along with all the others”
“I saw that at the premiere with everybody else. Like Taika Waititi didn’t know Thor was returning, so did I not know Roy Kent was Hercules. Marvel fans are my favorite, and I was thrilled to see a moment where the film truly surprised me. “
Director Taika Waititi had previously stated that he and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth were equally surprised to find the “Thor Will Return” teaser during the last seconds of blockbuster.
Robinson said she knew “there had been talk about Hercules” so, even though she immediately revealed that he was in the scene, she was shocked by Goldstein’s casting.
” I knew that there was talk of Hercules. The name Hercules was not ‘not’ said in conversations that I definitely, probably wasn’t supposed to overhear, but did. The moment I saw the start of the scene I was certain he would be speaking to Hercules. They didn’t cast me. It was Hercules, I thought. It was obvious to me that this was something they wanted. “
The Love and Thunder writer went on to admit she doesn’t yet know whether she’ll be working with Marvel Studios again, but she remains open to “wherever life takes [her]:”
“I don’t know. I am open to whatever life brings me at this stage. One thing I have learned from this experience is that it’s possible to try and plan, but your plans will get thrown in the face and laughed at. Therefore, I stopped planning. When I receive a call asking me to pitch something, and it is something I believe I can do well for, yes, I’d work again with Marvel. Kevin is a great person who understands the importance of putting together directors, writers and executive teams and creating creative soup. If Kevin believes I’m right for something I can trust him because I believe I will be successful. “
When Will Hercules Return to the MCU?
Hercules’ arrival was one of the greatest surprises Thor. Love and Thunder had to offer. The casting of Brett Goldstein was the cherry on top. Goldstein quickly became a well-known face in the role of Roy Kent after Ted Lasso was a huge hit on Apple TV+.
Just as intriguingly, Chris Hemsworth’s promise of Thor and Hercules battling it out confirmed that he has a future with the MCU. Perhaps even a fifth solo appearance. Fans will have to wait for Hercules’ return, and it is impossible to predict how many more. However, Thor almost certainly will be with him when Hercules does return.
Perhaps Hercules might be seen in Thor ,, but he may also appear in the Avengers . mythical. This long-lasting Avenger has been proven in comics to be the Greek-born son of Zeus. There’s every possibility that his fight with Thor in the next ensemble blockbuster will end in Thor’s favor before he joins the team.
Only time will reveal if Hercules’ second appearance in the MCU is a surprise, or if this has been confirmed ahead of time. In any case, Goldstein has almost certain a Hercules solo project in the future of Marvel Studios. This will be a long-term and hopefully profitable endeavor.
