Marvel Studios continues to move further into its Phase 4 slate after a dozen new entries have already hit theaters and Disney+ since the beginning of 2021. The next season of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki ,, the first Disney+ series to officially be renewed for another season, is included in these upcoming episodes.
Almost every character from Loki Season 1, is returning for Season 2. The production is well underway ahead of the undisclosed date. Although Season 1 has ended, fans are already anxious about what the next season will bring to the screen.
Despite set photos hinting at more action from TVA’s top, it is still unknown when Season 2 will be released.
Now, thanks to a new interview with one of the series’ biggest stars, there may be a small idea of where fans can expect things to pick up following Season 1’s dramatic end in July 2021.
Renslayer Actor Teases Time Henanigans In Season 2
Gugu Mbatha Rah was interviewed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Star Gugu Mbatha Raw about her experiences working with both season of Marvel Studios’ Multiversal Disney+ Outing.
Mbatha-Raw expressed how “surreal” it was to join the MCU and experience its “huge fan base,” particularly with Tom Hiddleston’s lead character having been popular for such a long time:
Fallon – “People love this show. What was your reaction to it becoming the most popular thing in the world?” “
MbathaRaw: It was surreal. The whole experience was incredible. It was amazing to have the opportunity to work with something so popular. Tom Hiddleston has played this character for a while, so it is an honor to play Ravonna Renslayer’s morally-ambiguous role. “
The two discussed how complicated and vast the Multiverse can be. They also mentioned how they almost needed a presentation about it, like that given by Hiddleston on Loki just before Season 1 started filming.
Fallon – “It kinda introduced the Multiverse into the world. Do you understand it? “
MbathaRaw: Does anyone know the Multiverse?” It was a lesson we really needed. When we started the first season, Loki Tom presented a huge Loki presentation. This kind of PowerPoint about his character. But, I think we still need one for multiverse. “
She has moved onto Season 2 and she said that she is currently filming in London, but she could not give any details about the next series. However, her last comment potentially set the stage for where Season 2 will pick up, as she said “it’s like no time has passed:”
Fallon: “Are you filming Season 2? “
MbathaRaw: We just began. “
Fallon – “Oh, really? Over in London?” “
Mbatha-Raw: “Yes, that’s right. “
Fallon – “Everything is quiet and kept under wraps?” “
MbathaRaw: It is, it’s I’m afraid. I can’t give away too much. It feels great to be back. “
Loki Actor Ready for Time Travel Madness?
Gugu Mbatha–Raw’s Judge Renslayer is a very exciting character within Loki ,, considering nobody knows when or where she was on the MCU’s Sacred Timeline. After a long conversation with Owen Wilson’s Mobius she was seen last time going through one the TVA portals from her office. Fans are eager to see her next destination.
In addition to her story, it seems that Episode 6’s madness will carry on into Season 2, with Jonathan Majors, the He Who Remains, taking over all of TVA following Sylvie’s death in The Void. With a Kang the Conqueror variant roaming the Multiverse, and timelines branching at all angles, it’s impossible to predict what Loki, the crew, and their future will look like after that dramatic ending.
It will be interesting to see how long has passed between Season 1 and this round. Mbatha–Raw teases that they’ll start from the beginning. The Sacred Timeline is in chaos and there will be many problems for the God of Mischief to solve.
Season 2 is currently being filmed by Loki , but it hasn’t been released to Disney+.
