Three superhero teams from across time and space unite in Avengers Assemble Alpha, and the mysterious Avenger Prime is at the heart of it all.

The mightiest Avenger of all is finally revealed in the upcoming Avengers Assemble Alpha.

CBR has the exclusive preview of the one-shot, which serves as the beginning of the finale to writer Jason Aaron’s transformative era on Marvel’s foremost superhero team. The preview shows the mysterious Avenger Prime — previously teased in 2021’s Free Comic Book Day Avengers/Hulk #1 — wearing an Asgardian helm and looking oddly reminiscent of Thor’s old human host, Donald Blake. After speaking with Mephisto, Avenger Prime whispers “Avengers Assemble” — and bears witness to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes traveling back in time to face their prehistoric counterparts, also known as the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC.

The true identity of Avenger Prime is a secret set to be unveiled in the upcoming Avengers #65, which releases in February 2023. The hero has been teased as a cosmic force of good residing in a distant world known as the God Quarry. Free Comic Book Day Avengers/Hulk #1 revealed Avenger Prime in silhouette from a distance, showing him sending out Deathloks to save various worlds from multiversal threats.

Aaron’s Avengers Run Comes To An End

Avengers Assemble Alpha kicks off the Avengers Assemble event, uniting the Avengers, Avengers Forever and Avengers of 1,000,000 BC and tossing them into a war that will take readers “from the prehistoric beginnings of an Earth under assault by the greatest villains who’ve ever lived to the watchtower that stands at the dark heart of the all and the always, where an army of unprecedented evil now rises,” according to a Marvel synopsis.

“Four years of Avengers stories,” Aaron said when Avengers Assemble was announced, reflecting on his run, which began in 2018. “Threads from really every major series I’ve worked on throughout my last decade and a half at Marvel, from Ghost Rider to Thor. It all leads to this. The biggest Avengers story I could possibly imagine. Featuring a cavalcade of characters from across creation.”

Avengers Assemble Alpha is written by Aaron, illustrated by Bryan Hitch, inked by Andrew Currie, colored by Alex Sinclair and lettered by VC’s Cory Petit. The issue boasts a main cover by Hitch and Alejandro Sanchez, and variants by Mark Brooks, J. Scott Campbell & Sabine Rich, Salvador Larroca & Edgar Delgado, and Steve Skroce & Jim Campbell. Avengers Assemble Alpha hits comic book store shelves on Nov. 30.
