In the Marvel’s Avengers video game, there is a large variety of villains and goons that need to be taken out. Players can choose from several members of the Avengers, including some newer additions such as the Black Panther and the Winter Soldier. No matter which character heads into battle, however, there are more than enough mercenaries and androids to watch out for, as well as iconic Marvel characters that appear as bosses.
The locations of common enemy types are particularly important to keep track of since many assignments can only be completed by defeating a set number of specified enemies. Whether players are new to the game and need help properly fighting a particular enemy, or perhaps an assignment requires a few Dreadbots to be slain, this overview should help with the preparation.
Synthoids Are Everywhere in Marvel’s Avengers
Synthoids are one of the most common enemies in Marvel’s Avengers. The base Synthoid model can be found in just about every mission and doesn’t pose much of a threat, but the more advanced versions can have electric staves, stronger armor, cryogenic abilities, or even teleportation. Prime Synthoids are perhaps the most sought-after due to a certain assignment. The “Rocket’s Red Glare,” mission in the Utah Badlands is the easiest way to find them, although players may have to reload the mission a few times in order to get the number of kills that they need.
Proto-Synthoids Often Employ Dirty Tactics
Proto-Synthoids exist mainly to keep players on their toes. Although they are Synthoids, their models are slightly different and their abilities are even more so. The basic Proto-Synthoid isn’t that different from a standard Synthoid, but there are also Blitz Proto-Synthoids and Plague Proto-Synthoids. The Blitz model’s directive is to run into the player and explode, whereas the Plague variety releases poison whenever it takes a hit, making ranged attacks ideal for handling these enemies. Basic Proto-Synthoids can be found early in the “Out of the Shadows” mission in the Pacific Northwest.
Riotbots Can Take a Hit
Riotbots, as players might assume, are the walking riot shields of Marvel’s Avengers. Encountering them may require the player to slow down and take their time in order to get around the Riotbots’ defenses. The basic Riotbot has a shield while more advanced versions protect themselves with electric fields and the ability to phase through objects and the player’s attacks. Dealing with these enemies requires a bit more comprehension of maneuvering around opponents as opposed to smashing through them. A good way to find some Riotbots is by loading up the mission “Along Came a Spider” in the Utah Badlands.
Reapers Are Encountered Early in the Game
Reapers are the loyal mercenaries of Taskmaster. These enemies are mainly included to help introduce players to the game and its mechanics. Some Reapers have jetpacks, some have shields, and most use ranged attacks, but there are only a handful of missions in which one can encounter Reapers. The best way to find them is by simply starting the game from the beginning or choosing “The Light that Failed” Mission on the Golden Gate Bridge.
Watch Dogs are a little different from Reapers, and they will appear more frequently in the game. Depending on the variation of each soldier, a Watch Dog will utilize attacks with a jetpack, a flamethrower, or electric attacks. Ranged attacks are best for the units using flamethrowers and jetpacks, although the Shockmutts use shields along with their electric attacks, and will require some heavier attacks. The best way to encounter Watch Dogs is to pursue the “Dogs of War” mission line in the Utah Badlands.
Keepers Have Tricks Up Their Sleeves
The Keepers are the soldiers of AIM, usually referred to as Beekeepers due to their distinct uniforms. Basic keepers are common and not very threatening, although they are equipped with rifles, which means they could attack at range. The more serious Keepers to watch out for emerge when higher difficulties are selected. These soldiers can fly, throw toxic grenades, teleport, or fire deadly missiles at players. This means a wide variety of defenses are needed to defeat them, depending on the variations of Keepers being faced. An easy way to find them is to go to the Helicarrier and select “Harm Challenge I.”
Dreadbots Are Four-Legged Tanks
Dreadbots are one of the more bulky opponents on the battlefield and may take some time to dispatch. They are four-legged robotic tanks equipped with a variety of weaponry that may change depending on the difficulty. Luckily, the difference in the variation of Dreadbots is not as drastic as some of the other enemy types. Dealing with any variation of Dreadbots is simply a matter of taking out the mounted turrets on the sides, which will make it easier to eventually take it down. The “Out of the Shadows” mission in the Pacific Northwest is a good option to find Dreadbots since players can reload the mission multiple times and fight Dreadbots near the mission’s beginning.
Exos Are Highly Upgraded Keepers
Exos are essentially AIM Keepers that have been equipped with a powerful, mechanized exoskeleton. Because of this, they are stronger, more heavily armored, and possess an array of ranged attacks. More difficult versions can freeze players or explode once they’ve been destroyed. With any Exo, the best way to defeat it is by attacking the weak spot on its back, if the player can get to it safely. Both the “Harm I” and “Harm II” challenges on the Helicarrier offer these enemies to players.
Drones Should Be Destroyed Before Any Other Enemies
Drones are perhaps the most easily dispatched enemies on the battlefield, so long as players have good enough aim. They can still pose a threat by shielding other enemies, firing missiles at players, alerting other enemies, or even draining some of the player’s abilities like similar variations of other enemy types. Destroying drones with solid ranged attacks is therefore the first priority when encountering a large mass of enemies. One place to find a good handful of drones is during the “Stark Realities” mission in The Pacific Northwest.
Adaptoids Are the Toughest Common Enemies to Beat
Adaptoids are one of the most challenging opponents to face out on the battlefield. They are essentially upgraded Synthoids that have been augmented with the superpowers of other heroes. Even the basic Adaptoid is worthy of the player’s attention, but other models can be enhanced by fire, cryogenic, and telekinetic abilities. All the player’s knowledge and skills will have to be utilized in order to defeat Adaptoids. A good way to find and fight a few of these enemy types at once is to choose the “Harm V” challenge on the Helicarrier.
