Dracula’s grandson, Alex, is revealed to be working with one of the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel Universe in X-Terminators #3.
The following contains spoilers for X-Terminators #3, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Marvel’s X-Terminators #3 reveals the grandson of Dracula is working with one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, The Collector.
X-Terminators #3 comes from writer Leah Williams, artist Carlos Gómez, colorist Bryan Valenza and letterer VC’s Travis Lanham. In the series so far, Dazzler, Boom-Boom, Jubilee and Laura Kinney/Wolverine have all found themselves trapped in a secret death area run by vampires. The first issue revealed the heroes’ kidnapper is none other than Boom-Boom’s ex-boyfriend, Alex, who also happens to be the grandson of Dracula and son of Xarus.
In X-Terminators #3, Dazzler and Jubilee come up with a plan to escape that results in the X-Men team running through some pits which run below the area. There, they find creatures trapped from Otherworld, with Boom-Boom noting they appear to have stumbled upon “quite the collection.” Laura comes to realize she’s been wherever they’re trapped before, at which point the heroes realize they’re somewhere in space onboard the Collector’s ship.
Watching things play out are the Collector, a character created by Stan Lee and Don Heck who first appeared in 1966’s The Avengers #28, and Alex. Alex questions whether or not he gets a bonus for bringing the Collector the “other two,” implying the vampire was hired to kidnap the mutants. “Why would you?” the Collector responds. “I specified one bombastic mutant and one regenerative mutant. Go toss the redundancies out the air lock.”
Who Is The Collector?
While initially introduced as a man who simply enjoyed pocketing rare and valuable objects from across the Marvel Universe, it was eventually revealed the Collector is one of the Elders of the Universe, which are some of the oldest beings to ever live. Along with the various items and creatures he’s taken in over the years, the Collector also possesses a portion of the Power Primordial, making him extraordinarily powerful though he’s largely kept his abilities hidden from others. In the MCU, the character is played by Benicio del Toro and has appeared in films such as 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
The next chapter of the five-issue miniseries continued on Dec. 28, 2022, with X-Terminators #4. The synopsis for the issue reads, “It’s not the clothes that make the badass, it’s the asses they kick! Dazzler, Boom-Boom, Jubilee and Wolverine might not be dressed for a beatdown, but that’s not gonna stop them from handing them out! Make a joke about them – they dare you!”
X-Terminators #3 features cover art by Federico Vincentini and Matt Milla and variant cover art by David Nakayama. The issue is on sale now from Marvel.
