Marvel Zombies will bring the fourth phase of Phase 4 to its undead world.
CBR attended the Marvel Studios animation panel at San Diego Comic-Con where details of the first Marvel Zombies were unveiled. The series will be Marvel’s first for mature viewers. It will also feature undead heroes, villains and more. Bryan Andrews, director of Marvel and the What if said that Marvel and the What if creative team decided to make a Marvel Zombies spinoff. After the success of “What If…”, Season 1, the creative group decided to create a Marvel Zombies spinoff. Zombies?!” “Zombies?”
The creatives revealed the first group of Zombies from the show. These included an Arrow-filled Hawkeye and a cut in half Captain America, Abominations, Ghosts, Captain Marvels, Okoye, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Ghost, Captain Marvel, Okoye. The glowing circuitry of Ikaris, Eternals finally emerged.
Facing off against the zombies will be Yelena Belova, Katy from Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, Red Guardian, Jimmy Woo (complete with playing cards), Death Dealer, Shang-Chi, and Ms. Marvel. Kamala Khan is expected to play an important role in the series. The show will also introduce the post-apocalyptic Widows and Skrull biker teams.

Zeb Wells, a comic book writer is working on this project. Ryan Meinerding, Marvel Studios’ Creative Director for Visual Development and VP of Marketing is back at work. What if …?? Season 2 will arrive in 2023, there’s no word yet on when Marvel Zombie will hit Disney+.
Marvel Zombies was first announced during Disney+ Day in November 2021. It is not just based on the What if …? series. episode and the popular comic book series. Robert Kirkman, Sean Phillips and the original Marvel Zombies were able to create a limited five-issue series. It ran from December 2005 to April 2006 and spun off from Ultimate Fantastic Four. Set in an alternate universe (Earth-2149), the series saw the various heroes and villains transformed into flesh-eating zombies thanks to a virus from another dimension. It went on to spawn several sequels (including a crossover with Dynamite Entertainment’s Army of Darkness) and tie-ins, most recently in 2020 with Marvel Zombies: Resurrection.
Marvel Zombies has yet to be released on Disney+.
