During Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, the studio revealed its first official footage of Namor the Sub-Mariner in the trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Namor was originally named Namor McKenzie in comics. He was the son of a human father, and the princess from the kingdom of Atlantis. Namor is able to live on land as well as sea because of his heritage. Marvel Comics called him “Marvel’s original mutant” due to his extraordinary abilities. “
During the production of Black Panther : Wakanda forever ,, it was expected that Marvel Studios would release a new Atlantean leader with his underwater kingdom. The film’s first trailer confirms that.
Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta played the part of Namor, the Sub-Mariner in Marvel Studios’ live-action film.
Throughout his comic book run, which began as early as 1939, Namor has often been portrayed as a well-intentioned antihero, and as the film appears to show Atlantis and Wakanda at war, it seems that tradition will continue with Huerta.
The trailer showed flashbacks and a glimpse of the actor. One of them appears to be Namor, a young child who is watching the buildings go up in flames.
Marvel fan first discovered that MCU’s version of Atlantis was inspired by Aztec culture. Gifts for the Black Panther2 crew featured a hat embroided with Aztec iconography. This allegedly depicted a Tepeyollotli or jaguar, an Aztec god of darkened caves and earthquakes.
The image of Namor wearing a ceremonial hairdress in the below photo is an official proof of Marvel Studios’ move to the Sub-Mariner. It also shows that Marvel Studios will continue world-building grounded in cultural history, Wakanda forever HTML3_
Another shot taken from the trailer shows Huerta and Namor flanked in another photo.
This is similar to comics in which the Atlanteans have blue skin while Namor does not. Namor’s father was human.
It remains to be determined if Namor’s history and look will be used for the film. Or if Atlanteans wear war paint.
What is certain is that the battle between Wakanda & Atlantis is imminent. This fight has, once again, a kind of precedent in comics.

Namor had a complex relationship. Although they had their moments of disagreement, especially in politics, the pair did work together to find traitors for the kingdoms, and to locate missing people.
While conflict can be expected in Wakanda forever ,, that does not mean MCU fan might see Namor with the future leader or leaders of Wakanda at the end.
