Marvel created a cohesive universe by presenting a complex web of alliances. Many heroes and villains knew each other well and worked together, developing work friendships that became important relationships. Sometimes, these alliances would be short-lived or fraught with problems, but other times they’ve been as strong as can be.
Marvel has banded groups of heroes and villains together with near-unbreakable ties. These alliances have become a huge part of the Marvel Universe. Without them, many amazing stories would have never happened. It’s almost certain that the universe itself never would have survived as long as it has.
10/10 The Kree/Skrull Alliance Is Stronger Than Anyone Would Have Imagined
“The Kree/Skrull War” is a top Avengers story, chronicling the ending of the millennia-long war between the Kree and Skrull Empires. The Avengers are able to beat both sides, and in the coming years, both empires are basically destroyed. The Skrull have their homeworld devoured by Galactus and the Kree lose a war to the Shi’Ar, their homeworld ravaged by the Nega-Bomb.
On Earth, the heir of both empires, Teddy Altman, is born to keep him safe from both sides. The boy would grow up to become Hulkling and eventually, the young hero would forge an alliance between the formerly warring races that would make them stronger than ever.
9/10 The Orchis Initiative Is An Anti-Mutant Alliance Of Every Secret Agency In The World
When the mutants revealed that they were in the business of nation-building, the Orchis Initiative was activated. Orchis was made up of members of SHIELD, AIM, SWORD, Hydra, HAMMER, and basically every other secret agency in existence. Their mandate was simple: break the power of mutantkind on a worldwide stage once they reached a certain level.
Since then, Orchis has been the most powerful enemy of mutants. The various groups are often made up of former enemies who work well together. They all have one purpose, and they are doing a very good job at working to ensure that purpose is fulfilled.
8/10 Krakoa & Arakko Have Become A Galactic Power
The mutant nation of Krakoa was powerful on its own, but it became something new after the war with Amenth. The mutants of Arakko, who were long-sundered into Otherworld to fight the Amenthi for millennia, joined them. Soon, the Krakoans made them a new home by terraforming Mars, taking a barren rock and making it a life-sustaining world.
Since then, the two powers have created a government that has territory on two different planets. Arakko’s Port Prometheus has become a galactic star port and Arakko is seen as the capital of the Sol system. The two mutant nations’ alliance has made them greater than they would otherwise be.
7/10 The Maximoffs Have An Unbreakable Bond
There are many great twins in comics, but few share a bond as unbreakable as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Calling what they have a simple alliance seems a bit paltry, but in reality, it’s exactly what they have. It’s often been the Maximoff twins against the world. They had no one but each other throughout their lives, and they looked out for each other.
Solidarity has been the twin’s lives. Quicksilver has guarded Scarlet Witch against harm, and she’s helped him with his relationships with the world. Fighting one means fighting the other, and nothing has ever really come between them. They created something that few others have ever had.
6/10 Wolverine & Spider-Man Created A Friendship No One Thought Was Possible
Astonishing Spider-Man And Wolverine is a must-read Wolverine story. The book sees the two sent on a jaunt through time that started with their usual state of antagonism but ended with them gaining an understanding of each other that led to a friendship unlike any other. Since then, the two heroes have been best friends.
Wolverine and Spider-Man being best friends isn’t something anyone had on their superhero bingo card. For years, the two sassed each other and fought, their relationship defined by their disdain for each other. However, that’s all changed. They’ve reached a point where Spider-Man is basically family to Wolverine and vice versa.
5/10 The All-New All-Different Era Of The X-Men Formed A Bond Like No Others
X-Men history is all about family. Each generation of X-Men have formed special bonds, but few can match the one between the members of Xavier’s second class of mutants. Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and later members Rogue, Kate Pryde, and Rachel Summers formed an alliance that became greater than anyone would have imagined.
The bonds between this group of mutants are unlike any other in the annals of the X-Men. They were a team like few others out there. They became a found family that was so close, nothing could separate them. Even now, they will do anything for one another, and fighting one means fighting them all.
4/10 The Three Captains America Share Something No One Else Understands
Marvel has some amazing friendships, with many holding up Steve Rogers and Bucky’s friendship as iconic. However, that duo should be a trio, as Sam Wilson has also proven to be just as important to both of them. All three of them have been Captain America, wielding the adamantium/vibranium alloy shield and acting as the symbol of freedom.
Many mantles get passed down in the Marvel Universe, but none of those are like Captain America. Being Captain America is about representing something bigger than any one person and being someone who everyone looks to. Rogers, Wilson, and Barnes all share a sacred bond and friendship that no others can understand, even someone like Johnny Walker, who has been Cap.
3/10 The Wrecking Crew Have Stayed Together Through Thick & Thin
Villainous alliances don’t often last. Villains aren’t known for teamwork or altruism and they usually devolve into bickering. However, there are exceptions to that rule, and the Wrecking Crew is one of them. The Wrecker was given powers and a magical crowbar by Loki, and Piledriver, Thunderball, and Bulldozer all gained powers when they grabbed the crowbar and it was struck by lightning.
The quartet has fought the strongest heroes on Earth, worked with multiple incarnations of the Masters of Evil, were in the Hood’s gang, and are basically inseparable. They’ve become friends and learned to work together. They always form their own corps within whatever group they’re in, working together better than anyone imagines.
2/10 Xavier & Magneto’s Relationship Has Survived The Worst Ups & Downs
Professor X formed the X-Men, but before that, he was friends with Magneto. The two worked together in Israel and later Xavier showed Magneto the memories of Moira MacTaggert after she revealed himself to her. Xavier and Magneto’s relationship has been strained to the breaking point many times, but it’s always managed to snap back into place.
Xavier and Magneto have formed an alliance that is based on a shared goal: the survival and enrichment of mutantkind. That’s what has allowed their relationship to weather everything. They are bonded by a goal that means more to them than anything, something which has helped them always forgive each other and move on.
1/10 The Avengers Trinity Of Captain America, Iron Man, & Thor Are The Heart And Soul Of The Team
The Avengers are Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but not every roster is created equal. The Avengers have a core without which the team is lesser than they would otherwise be. Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor are considered to be the Avengers’ Trinity, the three members who truly make the team special.
There can be Avengers without them, but it feels more meaningful if they’re a part of it. The three of them have found ways to come together even after the worst circumstances. Theirs is an alliance unlike any other, as each brings something special to the trio. They’ve helped defeat the most dangerous threats and are an inspiration like no other.
