Marvel’s heroes are experts at doing a lot with what they have. They often face off against villains that have some kind of advantage over them, forcing them to dig deep and pull out something amazing to get the win. Many heroes have realized that they are much more powerful than they thought they were, but even with these gains, they’re barely scratching the iceberg.

Many Marvel heroes underestimate the raw power inside of them. They don’t always realize just what they can do with their powers, even if they know the full extent of them. If these Marvel heroes explored some specific components of their abilities, they’d become ten times more formidable than before.

10/10 Reed Richards Should Definitely Be Able To Shapeshift

Reed Richards from Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four stares off into space

Iron Man isn’t the smartest Marvel hero. In many ways, Reed Richards is Tony’s intellectual superior. Reed’s a polymath scientist, with mastery in nearly every science. His superpowers are none too shabby, making him pliable and stretchy. However, Richards should be able to do much more with them.

In one future, Reed stretched his brain and made himself telepathic, but that’s just the beginning. When considering how his powers work, Richards should be able to shapeshift. While he can’t change the color of his hair and skin, he should be able to shape his features into anyone else’s. However, Reed devotes himself to science instead of mastering his powers.

9/10 Sunfire Could Possibly Control The Sun Itself

An image of Sunfire showing off his flame abilities

Sunfire is a C-list member of the X-Men. He’s had several short stints with the team, acted as a Horseman of Apocalypse for a time, and basically comported himself somewhat pompously. However, his arrogance is warranted when looking at his powers.

Sunfire absorbs solar energy and can create plasma, the same super-heated matter that comprises the sun, and controls it mentally. Sunfire’s ability to control plasma could apply to the sun itself, considering it’s a giant ball of plasma. If he trained at it, there’s a chance Sunfire could wield the sun itself as a weapon.

8/10 Jubilee’s Powers Are Way More Formidable Than They Seem

Jubilee unleashes her fireworks in Marvel Comics - X-Men

Jubilee gets a bad rap when it comes to her powers. Everyone thinks of her as the firework girl, but they forget that fireworks hurt a lot when they hit people. Jubilee has spent years working with her powers, allowing her to fire off more powerful bursts.

Jubilee’s powers are based on plasma that she can produce. This means that her main power isn’t making cool fireworks, but super-heating matter until it reaches the plasma state. That’s an amazing and dangerous power, one that’s reminiscent of Gambit’s power in a lot of ways, except Jubilee’s is much more dangerous.

7/10 Invisible Woman Is Immensely Powerful

Marvel Comics' Invisible Woman deflecting attacks

Invisible Woman is the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four, and turning invisible is just the beginning of what she can do. By manipulating invisible energy, she can create force fields, constructs, and concussive bursts. This energy comes from Hyperspace, meaning that Invisible Woman can manipulate energy from another plane of existence.

If Invisible Woman can do it to one plane, it’s reasonable to believe she could do the same to another. Additionally, she does it all psionically. This is a lot like telekinesis, except for energy instead of solid matter. If she worked on it, Invisible Woman could almost certainly use her power to manipulate other energy fields around her, since her mind is accustomed to manipulating energy.

6/10 Jean Grey Can Control Molecules

The Omega class mutants of the X-Men are quite powerful, with Jean Grey near the top of the hierarchy. Jean is a telepath of the highest order, second only to Charles Xavier in power and skill. She’s also an amazing telekinetic, allowing her to fly, create force fields, and move things with her mind. Jean can also fire powerful concussive bursts.

Telekinesis is amazing, and Jean’s definitely lives up to that. In fact, with enough concentration, Jean could manipulate matter. If she tried hard enough, Jean could use her powers to move molecules, taking things apart and rearranging them on a molecular level.

5/10 Scarlet Witch Is Basically A God

Scarlet Witch can beat Marvel’s cosmic beings if it came right down to it. Her reality altering power is an amazing ability, and she’s done some jaw-dropping things with it. Creating the House Of M reality is quite impressive, but she recently used her magic and reality altering power in tangent to create what amounts to an afterlife for mutants. This allows mutants to be resurrected even if they died before Xavier started using Cerebro to back up mutant minds.

This puts Scarlet Witch at a new level. If she can do that, there’s basically no limit to her power aside from her imagination. It’s actually probably a good thing that Scarlet Witch doesn’t realize that, since she has a reputation for breaking down under the strain of her vast and raw power.

4/10 Storm Can Manipulate Electromagnetic Energy

An image of Storm with the Fantastic Four

Marvel keeps letting Storm get better, something that extended to her powers as well. Storm’s weather control is a great ability, but the power behind it is even greater. Storm can control electromagnetic energy currents, which in turn manipulates the weather. Electromagnetism is a fundamental force in the universe.

Storm helped keep Magneto alive when he went after Uranos for revenge by fueling him with electromagnetic power. So, while Storm being able to control the weather is great, she could be even more powerful if she learned to harness electromagnetic energy in new ways.

3/10 The Hulk Can Control Gamma Radiation

An image of the Hulk wearing royal accessories and a crown in Marvel Comics

The Hulk is the strongest one there is, and that’s usually enough for any fight. He has infinite strength potential, amazing durability, and a healing factor. Hulk’s power comes from gamma radiation, and he’s basically a gamma energy battery. The more angry he gets, he not only increases his strength but also his output of gamma energy.

The Hulk has displayed an ability to control gamma energy in the past. The Hulk isn’t really the type of person to hone other abilities, but if he put in the work with his gamma energy manipulating powers, he could definitely become unstoppable.

2/10 Silver Surfer Can Control Matter Completely

Marvel Comics' Silver Surfer flying forward yelling

Marvel’s cosmic heroes are quite formidable, but Silver Surfer is easily the most powerful. Fueled by the Power Cosmic, Silver Surfer is strong, durable, and fast, able to travel space very quickly, moving many times the speed of light. He can manipulate cosmic energy at a very high level, but the greatest ability the Power Cosmic gives Silver Surfer is also his least used.

The Power Cosmic allows Silver Surfer to manipulate matter. He can make matter change states, but he can also transform one thing into another. That’s an amazing power, and it gives Silver Surfer an unprecedented amount of control over matter.

1/10 The Sentry Used The Barest Minimum Of His Powers

Marvel Comics' Sentry in space above Earth

There are some scary Avengers out there, but few can match the Sentry. One reason for this is the Void, Sentry’s dark side, that can take control of him at any time. The second reason is his power. It’s said that Sentry has the power of a million exploding suns. This mostly comes out in his strength, durability, flight, and energy powers, but he and the Void have used other abilities.

The Sentry and Void have psionic powers, matter manipulating powers, and low grade reality altering powers. The Void sometimes taps into these powers at a low level, but that’s all. The Sentry is much more powerful than even he knows, which is both impressive and frightening to think about.
