Looking at the Marvel Universe as a whole, the Earth is a relatively safe place. Sure, there seems to always be an extinction-level event about to happen, but it’s always stopped. The planet has a dedicated corps of heroes known for nipping any threats in the bud. This also extends to the surrounding space, as Earth’s heroes have worked to save all creation to keep the planet safe.
It’s a surprise that the other planets have lasted as long as they have. Most of them don’t have any protectors, which is terrible. The Marvel Universe is dangerous, full of threats that would freeze the blood of the stoutest hearts.
10/10 Galactus And Some Of His Former Heralds Are Very Dangerous
Many villains have affected the Marvel Universe, but few as literally as Galactus. The World Devourer lives up to that description, destroying countless planets over the eons. While Galactus is a known threat to the people of the universe, most never really believe that he’ll come after them until he’s already there.
The more insidious threat of Galactus is his former Heralds. He never takes away the Power Cosmic from them unless he absolutely has to, leaving them as near indestructible engines of cosmic power. Sure, Silver Surfer is a hero, but there are Heralds like Terrax or Morg who definitely aren’t. Galactus’s threat is much more multi-faceted than most believe.
9/10 The Shi’Ar Empire Is More Formidable Than Anyone Realizes
The Skrull and the Kree are always the first intergalactic powers people think of when it comes to being dangerous. Both races have pulled off attacks on Earth, led by villains like Ronan the Accuser, the Super-Skrull, Queen Veranke, and more. However, both races’ empires were ravaged by their wars and various other circumstances to the point where they became a coalition power under Emperor Hulkling.
However, the one that no one ever realizes is dangerous is the Shi’Ar Empire. The Shi’Ar have rarely lost wars, defeating both the Kree and Skrull, and have their own cadre of superpowered protectors, the Imperial Guard. They may not seem like an overt threat, but the Shi’Ar are much more dangerous than they get credit for.
8/10 The Phalanx Spreads Its Machine Perfection Throughout The Universe
The Phalanx is a collective of assimilated techno-organic species. The Phalanx travels the cosmos, looking for species worthy of joining its collective. These species have reached a level of technology that combines tech and flesh seamlessly, bringing them closer to the perfection of the Phalanx. Any others, it destroys outright.
The Phalanx’s hive mind is so sophisticated that they use black holes as the basis of their processing technology. They’ve mastered technologies that others would believe impossible and are a deadly threat like nothing most galactic powers have ever experienced.
7/10 The Universe Is Full Of Dangerous Objects Of Power
Marvel’s universe is full of weapons like All-Black the Necrosword, just waiting to be found by the wrong person. The most significant example is the Infinity Gauntlet, which makes its bearer God with a capital G. There are the Cosmic Cubes, which allow their user near limitless reality-altering power. There are ancient spell books, magical weapons, and lost technologies that doomed worlds.
At any moment, some nihilistic kid in a far-off world could find the next Infinity Gauntlet that no one has discovered yet and become the next mass murderer on a galactic scale. The Marvel Universe is a big place, and it’s been around for a long time. There is all manner of secret weapons out there ripe for the taking.
6/10 Knull And The Klyntar Always Come Back
Venom and his symbiotic siblings are dangerous beings. For years, no one really knew just how dangerous or numerous they were, but all of that changed when Knull was discovered. Knull was the God of the Symbiotes, a race he had created called the Klyntar, and he decided to exercise his power by trying to conquer the Earth.
Knull and the Klyntar were defeated, but they weren’t destroyed. The Klyntar are still out there, doing their thing. They await their master’s reawakening, and there’s no telling how much destruction they’ll spread across the stars the next time they attack.
5/10 The Mutants Of Arakko Are Martial And Powerful
The X-Men’s Omega class mutants are superlatively powerful and can do amazing things. However, they’ve had it easy compared to the mutants of Arakko. Arakko was once half of Okkara, a mutant continent sundered by an invasion from the demonic hordes of Amenth. In order to save the Earth, Arakko and its mutant inhabitants traveled to Otherworld to fight Amenth on its own turf.
They spent years at war, developing powerful abilities, amazing fighting skills, and strategic cunning like no one else. After the latest defeat of Amenth, they were brought home to Earth, and the X-Men used their powers to terraform Mars for them, renaming it Arakko. They are an unknown factor in the universe that could easily spell doom for any enemy.
4/10 The Annihilation Wave Is Always Ready To Strike
Annihilation is a classic cosmic Marvel story. The story brought many heroes, like Nova, Silver Surfer, Gamora, Drax, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, back to prominence, but it also introduced a significant new threat. The Annihilation Wave was the thing that made the story work, a wave of destruction sweeping through the stars and devouring everything in its way.
Led by Annihilus, the scourge of the Negative Zone, the Annihilation Wave cut a swath of devastation through the universe. It was stopped, but it wasn’t destroyed, and it’s a constant threat to the people of the universe.
3/10 The Builders Almost Destroyed All Life In The Cosmos
The Builders are the oldest beings in the universe. They seeded many planets with life and built an infrastructure for the universe that they could use to modify space and time. The race consists of two types: the Creators, who are more about life, and the Engineers, whose primary responsibility is technology. They also created multiple servitor entities, like Gardeners, Alephs, Curators, Caretakers, and Abyss.
When the Incursions started to happen, the Builders decided to destroy the Earth, which they saw as the source of the problem. However, that didn’t stop them from destroying everything else in their path. Their rampage was stopped, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t waiting in the wings, nursing their wounds and plotting revenge.
2/10 Surtur And His Fire Demons Are Always Ready To Ignite
Asgard and the other Nine Realms are dangerous, with everything from cave trolls to dark elves to frost giants. The Asgardians are in a constant state of war with the various denizens of the Realms, but those are wars they know they’ll win. There is one war, though, that they know they have no chance of winning.
Ragnarök is the final battle of the Norse gods, a climactic final battle against Surtur and his fire demons. The fire demon lord and his minions are superlatively powerful; a horde bent only on destruction. They’ve struck numerous times, trying to ensure the next battle is the last.
1/10 The Celestials Are Powerful And Inscrutable
Few species are as powerful as the Celestials. They are unique among the cosmos, massive titans with powers and intellect that few outside their kind understand. They travel the universe fulfilling their purpose, creating life and moving worlds. They can seem docile, but their peacefulness is an illusion.
The Celestials are such a terrible threat because they can pretty much do whatever they want. Nothing can easily stop them short of an Infinity Gauntlet or a Cosmic Cube. They are cauldrons of cosmic force, their vast intelligence driving them for unknown purposes. If they believe it’s time for a race to die, there’s no stopping them.
