Marvel’s superheroes may not be as titanically powerful as the heroes of their distinguished competition on average, but they have it where it counts. Superpowers are a big part of superhero comics, allowing the heroes and villains to do amazing things. Superpowers often overlap between the two companies, but Marvel has found ways to take the most mundane superpowers look cool.

Marvel Comics heroes and villains have great powers, but some are definitely cooler than others. Characters like Wolverine, Jean Grey and Daredevil can do great things with their powers, providing readers with exciting battles and twists.

10/10 Invisible Woman’s Powers Have Gotten Much Better Over The Years

Marvel Comics' Invisible Woman deflecting attacks

Invisible Woman is the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four. It wasn’t always that way, though, as for a long time her powers were just the ability to turn invisible. However, that was changed as the years went on. Invisible Woman is an energy manipulator at her core. She psionically manipulates energy from hyperspace, which allows her to turn invisible.

That’s only the beginning. Sue Storm can manipulate the energy of hyperspace to create constructs, impenetrable force fields, and powerful concussive blasts. Her powers have allowed her to more than hold her own against the powerful enemies the FF faces.

9/10 Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense Is His Best Power

Spider-Man webslinging and using his spider-sense in Marvel Comics

Spider-Man is a top hero in the Marvel Universe, even though he’s nowhere near the strongest or fastest hero. What puts Spider-Man over the top is that he knows exactly how to bring it all together, with his defensive capabilities giving him a leg up against many foes. This is all made possible by his spider-sense.

His spider-sense is limited precognition, allowing him to anticipate danger and avoid it. It’s the power that has defined him more than anything else. Spider-Man’s all about responsibility. His spider-sense allows him to protect himself and others from harm, using his power to make sure everyone is safe.

8/10 Daredevil’s Super Senses Are The Best In Comics

Marvel Comics' Daredevil uses his radar sense

Many heroes have super senses, but none of them can compare to Daredevil. The accident that blinded him as a boy also enhanced his senses to levels that are amazing. His other four senses make up completely for his lack of sight. His hearing is so good, it’s basically sonar, allowing him to see.

His sense of smell allows him to track people. His sense of touch is so sensitive that he can feel the indentations on paper, allowing him to read without it being Braille. His taste buds are so sensitive that he can identify every ingredient used in a dish. His senses are so acute that he can predict an opponent’s moves before they make them, which is a big part of his success.

7/10 Hulk’s Gamma Powers Make Him The Most Dangerous Being On Earth

The Hulk roars with fury as gamma radiation flares up around him in Marvel Comics

There are few heroes out there who everyone is pretty universally scared of. In fact, there’s really only one and that’s the Hulk. Bruce Banner’s gamma bomb changed his life in ways he never suspected, transforming him into a powerhouse like no other. Hulk’s powers include potentially infinite strength, amazing durability, and a healing factor like no one else’s.

The Hulk is the strongest one there is. His powers have made him the most dangerous being on Earth. He’s ran through the most powerful heroes and villains with ease. The fact that he gets stronger when he gets angry is the icing on the cake, putting him over the top in battles few would be able to win.

6/10 Magneto’s Magnetism Makes Him An Earth-Shattering Enemy

Marvel Comics' Magneto destroys the Avengers in The Trial of Magneto #2

Magneto’s growth during his Marvel tenure has taken him from a rather simplistic Silver Age villain to a nuanced character that is beloved by X-fans. His powers have also gone through some huge changes. He can do more than throw metal at his foes or protect himself from attack. He’s powerful enough to control the magnetic fields of the Earth and has the control to manipulate the iron in people’s blood.

Magneto also has control over electromagnetic energy, one of the four fundamental forces in the universe. He can basically end civilization any time he wants to. Magneto is a force to be reckoned with whether he’s a hero or villain and should never be underestimated.

5/10 Jean Grey’s Telekinesis Is A Multipurpose Weapon

Jean Grey deflecting bullets with her telekinesis

Jean Grey is a very experienced member of the X-Men, her training with Xavier beginning after he used his mental powers to bring her out of a coma. For years, she was merely a telepath, but she unlocked the power of telekinesis eventually. This made her an offensive and defensive powerhouse, giving her numerous options for both.

She can levitate objects around her, fly, use telekinetic energy as a shield, and fire powerful concussive blasts. Jean is so powerful she can pulverize mountains, yet has such fine control she can move molecules. Her telekinesis is a versatile tool.

4/10 Reality Alterers Like Proteus Are Basically Gods

Marvel Comics' Proteus looking menacing

The X-Men’s Omega-class mutants are powerful, but several of them take it to the next level. Proteus can alter reality itself, giving him the power to do whatever he likes. He’s not even the only mutant who can do this, as Jamie Braddock, known as Monarch, also has reality powers. He and Proteus have power on another level, and have proven to be formidable foes.

Mutants aren’t the only reality alterers, either. The most notable is Scarlet Witch. Her powers have allowed her to create children for her and the Vision, attack the Avengers with a cavalcade of villains, and literally change the world.

3/10 Magic Is Basically The Ultimate Marvel Power

Doctor Strange prepares to cast a magic spell in Marvel Comics' New Avengers #34

The Marvel Universe is full of powerful magic users. From Doctor Strange to Brother Voodoo to Agatha Harkness to Doctor Doom and more, magic comes in many shapes and sizes. There are witches, houngans, sorcerers, summoners, necromancers, fairies and various other magic based creatures, and so many more.

Magic is the ultimate power because its users can do anything. The most powerful magic users, like Strange, Doom, and Mordo, are among the most powerful humans on the planet, and magic based beings like Dormammu are basically gods by another name. Magic is the universe’s cheat code, and those who master it are extremely potent.

2/10 Wolverine Is Nearly Immortal Because Of His Healing Factor

Wolverine's healing factor from Marvel Comics

Wolverine’s healing factor is his greatest attribute. It’s kept him relatively young and allowed him to survive everything thrown at him, including the boding of his adamantium skeleton. It’s grown in leaps and bounds over the years; Wolverine’s tactics aren’t always the best, but his healing factor has allowed him to survive even the most pitched battles.

Wolverine, Sabretooth, Scout, Deadpool, and many more have ridden their healing factors to the A-list. They are amazing heroes, villains, and mercenaries. The ability to survive anything is great for a superhero, which makes a healing factor a perfect power.

1/10 Telepathy Is The Great Equalizer For Professor X And More

Decades of teaching and mentoring the X-Men make Professor Xavier the ideal fantasy mentor.

Not all Omega-class mutants are physically powerful. Some of their abilities aren’t physical in the least, like Professor X’s telepathy. Charles Xavier isn’t going to be winning any fist fights, but that’s mostly because he doesn’t have to get into them in the first place. Telepaths like Xavier can not only read thoughts, but manipulate minds in a variety of ways.

While not every telepath is as powerful as Xavier, telepathy is still very versatile. A powerful telepath can erase minds, control minds, cloak themselves and others from the minds of those around, freeze a person in place, and manipulate psionic energy.
